The Black3 and Green3 utilize a three-piece OTL cantilever with a diamond specifically positioned on a brass socket. The Green3 is manually selected from the production process of the Black3 that meet higher testing specifications. About 15% of the production meets these specifications and becomes Green3.

The recent development of our highly successful Lineage series of cartridges allowed for a transfer of technology to the Black3 & Green3. This updated series of cartridges offers excellent tonal power, dynamics, and realism, for a more satisfying reproduction of voices and instruments.

The coil winding techniques using ultra-pure copper wires formed during the development of the Lineage series have allowed the electrical circuits to achieve uniformity among the four coils in each cartridge. This enables an accurate balance between the channels and precise stereo imaging.

As with all Grado cartridges, the Black3 & Green3 are powered by a dual magnet system that optimizes the balance between the stereo channels. All internal parts of the magnetic circuit adhere to high tolerances, creating the desired stereo image. Grado's Flux-Bridger design allows the Black3 & Green3 to have one of the lowest moving mass systems while creating exceptional balance across the frequency range.

The development of the Epoch in our Lineage series gave us deep experience in using an external housing as a damping device. This led to the creation of a process that dissipates the chassis and disperses unwanted energy and vibrational frequencies, allowing the desired signal to travel freely.
