Description

Pink Floyd were not a pop band. That was the Beatles. Alas, Pink Floyd were not even a rock band. That was the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin. Pink Floyd taught us to listen to music. This is probably their most significant contribution to world music - along with the first purely heavy metal song in rock history, the "Nile Song" of 1969, as well as the "invention" of quiet/loud orchestrations and the term post rock, twenty (and more) years before it became widely known initially by Slint and later by Godspeed! You Black Emperor.
