Description

The old man has it all: money, houses, cars, pools. He even has a grill with Bluetooth. Despite all this, one day he decides to go up to the rooftop. However, the whole thing doesn't go as he imagines. Who would have expected it anyway? He just went to open a darn umbrella and all hell broke loose! From then on, the party begins. Hot desert, war zones, tropical jungles, even Tibet will be graced by his presence. Every place he "washes up" hides its own stories, its own secrets. And always, in some strange way, perhaps even a bit ridiculous, the old man somehow manages to stick his nose into all of it. But he doesn't want to, poor guy! It's all that darn umbrella's fault. But he can't part with it either. So, he is forced to slide frantically down the endless slide of the craziest adventure, trying to survive. Conversations that could never have happened; encounters with wise men; encounters with wild beasts; voices chasing him; armed rebels; even countries that no one knows exist. The garden has it all! But in the end, who can distinguish what is true from all this? Truth is a difficult thing – especially when it forces you to admit it. One thing is for sure: even the most unbelievable stories can be much closer to reality than we think.

  • Quite a unique writing style, however it is very easy to read. I liked the way the stories were combined. The plot draws you in from the beginning and at some points it raises some interesting reflections. Nice book.

  • This particular book won me over at first sight. From the cover to the last page, it was captivating. I hadn't read a book in a while and it fully justified my choice. Disruptive with a stormy plot and with social and theological reflections that set it apart from a typical novel.
