• The code breaker places four colored code pegs in the first row of holes, trying to guess the exact color and position variation of the secret code.
• The code maker places the hint pegs in the first row as follows: one red hint peg for each code peg that is the correct color and in the correct position; one white hint peg for each code peg that is the correct color but not in the correct position; no hint peg indicates a color not used in the code.
