Sage, scientific name Salvia Officinalis, is a perennial plant with fuzzy white-green leaves. Its essential oil is derived from the distillation of the herb and its flowers and has a sweet, herbaceous aroma.

It possesses bactericidal, fungistatic, and virustatic properties. It calms the nervous system and is recommended in cases of depression, anxiety, insomnia, and painful periods. It contributes to the reduction of hot flashes, irritability, headaches, and dizziness.

The essential oil of sage is very potent and can cause toxicity in large amounts. With 2 drops in 100 ml of water, it is used for gargling and rinses. Ingestion is not allowed.
