Description

TRAITOR. OUTCAST. HUNTER. HERO. The world is no longer safe for the Dragon Rider Murtagh and his Dragon, Thorn. A corrupt king has been overthrown and they are forced to live with the consequences of the unwilling role they played during his terrible reign. Now everyone hates them and they are left alone, exiled to the fringes of society. Throughout the country, there are whispers of a shattered land and a faint smell of sulfur in the air, and Murtagh feels that something sinister lurks in the shadows of Alagaesia. Thus begins an epic journey into the unknown, as together with Thorn they must discover and defeat a witch shrouded in mystery. In this thrilling novel featuring one of the most popular characters from Paolini's exciting Inheritance Cycle, a Dragon Rider must discover what he stands for in a world that has abandoned him. Murtagh is the perfect book to first enter the World of Eragon... or to pleasantly return to it. "Christopher Paolini is truly a rare phenomenon." ―The Washington Post "A thrilling fantasy novelist." ―The Boston Globe "Breathtaking with unparalleled success." ―USA Today "Christopher Paolini works literary magic." ―People

  • I would choose a book by the same author
  • I would recommend it for purchase
  • Was it interesting enough?
  • Paper quality
  • Paolini is back! The book claims to be ideal for those who want to discover the world of Eragon for the first time. I completely disagree with this. I believe that if I hadn't read the original tetralogy, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much and then I wouldn't have particularly enjoyed the tetralogy either since I would have learned who lives and dies. But for those who already know and love the world of Alagaësia, it is a very captivating and interesting new chapter. Personally, I loved it!

  • The writing level of Paolini seems to have not evolved at all over the years that have passed from Inheritance to Murtagh. However, an adventure that all fans of the series should read.

  • If you had read the Inheritance series 10+ years ago, then surely this book will awaken memories for you! It is standalone in a sense, as it is not directly connected to the series and takes place chronologically afterwards, so it can be read by individuals who have not read it.
