Kawai Responsive Hammer Keyboard & Mechanical Feel

The Nord Grand 2 features a premium 88-key Kawai Responsive Hammer Action keyboard with an Ivory Touch surface and weighted hammers. Three sensors (Triple Sensors) per key accurately detect the velocity and return position of the hammer, enabling fast repetitions and subtle dynamic variations (pianissimo) with the responsiveness of a grand piano.

Dual Piano Engine & Acoustic Performance Technologies

The piano section features a dual sound engine (2 Piano Layers) with access to the 2 GB Nord Piano Library, which includes sampled grand pianos, upright pianos, electric pianos (Rhodes, Wurlitzer), Clavinet and Harpsichord. It incorporates Advanced String Resonance technology to reproduce the natural string resonances, Dynamic Pedal Noise via the included Nord Triple Pedal 2, as well as new Dynamic Compression functions and 3 selectable touch curves (Touch Curves).

Sample Synth Engine & Layering Capabilities

The Sample Synth section features two independent layers (2 Sample Synth Layers) with access to the 1 GB Nord Sample Library, which includes string, wind, and synthesizer sounds, vocals, and authentic Mellotron and Chamberlin samples. It offers independent Attack/Decay/Release envelope controls, low- and high-pass filters with velocity response, and a Unison function for creating rich, layered sounds.

User Interface, Faders & Standalone Effects Unit

The instrument’s front panel features dedicated LED faders for each of the 4 accessible layers, allowing you to adjust levels and mix instantly during live performances. Each layer has its own independent effects unit, including modulation effects (Tremolo, Phaser, Chorus, Flanger, Wah), amplifier simulation with 3-band EQ, delay with Tap Tempo, and a standalone reverb unit with 6 algorithms (Spring, Booth, Room, Stage, Hall, Cathedral) and Chorale/Bright modes.
