Description

This book is not concerned with any kind of Apologetics of Religion in relation to modern Science or Technology. It actually considers that the time for such an endeavor has irretrievably passed.

On the other hand, it considers the aforementioned fields, which, if we believe the late Heidegger (in his lecture on "technical language," from 1962), are the first that derive from the second and not, as most believe, the opposite, to be privileged, fertile, and necessary interlocutors of Religion (in which the author includes, at the explicit suggestion of Aristotle, philosophical Metaphysics).

This means a bidirectional meaning-giving relationship: the (always, in any case) theological metaphysics and language, preferentially provide the spiritual framing of scientific-technical projects and their language, on the one hand, and on the other hand, conceptually handles their discoveries and applications, in order to deepen and modernize its insights.

If, therefore, as many of us admit, intersubjectivity was the greatest discovery of the past century, tanto for Philosophy as for the Human Sciences simultaneously, then is not the context of production and development of intersubjectivity precisely the human community?

And can a human community be conceived, as Herodotus already said, "sacrilegious," without the experience of God? Neither the scientific, nor the philosophical, nor the artistic, nor even the political or national community seems historically to concern humanity as massively as the religious community – which is why it is not coincidental that Judeo-Christian thought has contributed particularly to this great discovery of intersubjectivity, on the part of Philosophy and the above sciences.

And it is precisely in the realm of human intersubjectivity that this Interpretation of Religion, which is inaugurated with this volume, attempts to position scientific-technical consciousness.
