A touching story about the ecosystem, related to friends in nature and the nature of friendship, from the best-selling author of "The Leaf Thief". This story was produced in collaboration with the Kent Wildlife Trust bison reintroduction program. It is a tender narrative about Bison and her friends in the forest.

Bison feels very sad and lonely. She is big and furry, and sometimes a little awkward… and she doesn't know why anyone would want to be her friend. But wise woodpecker knows that everyone has different interests and that other animals probably feel very differently than she imagines. As Bison eats her breakfast, takes her bath, and tends to her needs, she meets many different creatures who love her precisely because of her large, adorable ways.

Besides celebrating these differences, this beautifully illustrated book explains to children, in terms they can understand, how different animals within an ecosystem cooperate and benefit from each other, as well as the power of rewilding in creating these relationships.

Behind this lovely rewilding story is the Kent Wildlife Trust's Wilder Blean Bison program, which has reintroduced three bison into a woodland in Canterbury. The book also includes a section explaining the science behind reintroduction, showing that regardless of who we are or what we like, we all deserve friendship and have a role to play… whether in our ecosystem or our personal community!
