Description

Description

Kunsthaus NRW in Aachen-Kornelimünster houses around 5,000 works of art by artists with a link to North Rhine-Westphalia - an outstanding collection echoing the history of the federal state. This publication presents the collection's most important acquisitions from 2000 onward and discusses a total of 166 artistic positions.

The collection catalogue, designed as a practical encyclopaedia, fulfils the need for an overview of art in NRW from 2000 to 2023 that is both readable and durable. The compendium is supplemented with an introductory essay on the trends leading directly to 21st-century art as well as short essays on the classification of concepts fundamental to contemporary art such as gender, politically engaged art, postcolonial discourses and questions of identity or time-based art.

Biographies of all the artists represented complete this unique reference work.
