As I delved deeper into the incidents of the Struggle that unfolded here, I clearly realized the unimaginable dramas that the protagonists were about to experience. It seemed to me as if they too were following their fateful solitary path, like the other heroes of ancient drama, who did not hesitate to confront even the gods in the theater's orchestra. For there, on the level of the earth that reached seven meters above the orchestra of the Theater, the heroes of the Revolution fought against the Turks.
The personalities who lived reproducing customary law in a milieu of patriarchal values had an indisputable, common, and unifying trait: their dedication to the Struggle for freedom, which, twenty-three centuries earlier, was institutionalized here in Athens, or rather, memorialized, with the construction of the Parthenon, as an eternal tangible value of the city.
The protagonists of '21, illiterate, but not always lacking education, with countless complexes, unruly, impulsive, often boastful, bullies, superstitious, bigoted, spiteful, absolute in their judgments, progressed filled with contradictory traits, conflicting choices, and at times, self-serving personal ambitions. However, they united all their strengths to accomplish the impossible. Their journey was marked by setbacks and disappointing feelings in Athens, as well as everywhere the anti-Ottoman struggle broke out.
