In On the Underground: Paris/New York, players build the lines of Paris or the New York Subway lines. Each player controls 2-4 different lines, depending on the number of players.

In each round, four destination cards are available, which correspond to stations on the map. You can perform up to four actions; one action can be constructing a railway line by placing one of your railway tokens on the board or taking a branching token. A player can use two branching tokens to branch off from an existing line (while normally lines can only be extended at the ends). After each player's turn, a passenger token moves along the players' lines, avoiding walking as much as possible, to reach one or two destinations set at the beginning of the round. The destination cards corresponding to the visited stations are then replaced with new ones, and the next player takes their turn.

Players score points in two ways:

• By constructing railway lines and connecting their lines to various types of stations, collecting location tiles (in Paris), connecting stations via water (in New York), or at the end of the game, if they have achieved their secret goals (in Paris).
• By having the passenger use their lines during movement.

After drawing all destination cards and after all players have taken the same number of turns, the game ends.

Paris is a thoughtful map that offers many options. To win, you must achieve the right balance between collecting sets of tokens, connecting secret destinations, blocking other players without getting blocked yourself, and of course, transporting the passenger. Paris is the sophisticated older sister of the original On the Underground: London map and is recommended for experienced players.

New York is a fast-paced map that reflects the intense pace of life in the Big Apple. It encourages players to replicate real life by creating lines through Manhattan, but they must build quickly to keep up with the ever-moving passenger.
