This book is an expression of the imperative duty I felt and feel to contribute—albeit belatedly—to informing the Greek citizen, to raising awareness about scientific truth, and to acquiring the necessary knowledge concerning this sensitive issue for our national life.

The knowledge that, while contributing to awakening and sensitizing the citizen, also combats the hysterical nationalism that always arises in the fertile ground of ignorance.

I also believe that the accurate and valid information provided by this book will assist those readers who come into contact with foreigners, here or abroad, to now handle any related discussion when it arises, or to provoke it when they deem it appropriate, with the confidence and persuasiveness that comes from being knowledgeable about objective scientific reality. And this is of great importance.
