AirSal cylinders are made from aluminum with a Scanimet coating (nickel + silicon carbide). This coating improves wear resistance and the mechanical properties of the cylinder. The main differences compared to cast iron cylinders are increased hardness (+600 Vickers), flexibility, lower heating, and a low coefficient of friction.
