Sorbalgon is a wound dressing composed of calcium alginate fibers and polysorbate. When the alginate fibers come into contact with the sodium salts found in wound exudate, they acquire a gelatinous texture and create a moist environment that contributes to the natural healing process.
Properties and action:
- High absorption, important for healing wounds with moderate to heavy exudate.
- Application around the wound prevents it from drying out.
- Available in ribbon form for deep wounds.
Indications: For any type of wound with moderate to heavy exudate or bleeding.
Contraindications: Do not use Sorbalgon in patients who are allergic to any of its components.
Special precautions: Assessment of the wound condition and causes of delayed healing by a physician is required. Treatment with Sorbalgon does not replace the treatment of the cause of delayed healing. Use of Sorbalgon in wounds of considerable depth due to second and third-degree burns is indicated under medical supervision.
