The Vale of Eternity: Artifacts, an expansion for The Vale of Eternity, adds 28 creature cards with new effects to the deck, as well as items that players choose during the hunting phase at the start of each round.
Specifically, at the beginning of a round, twice as many creature cards are revealed as there are players, using the usual method. Then, starting with the first player, each player selects an item by placing their marker on it. (In fact, you cannot choose the same item you had in the previous round.) Some items have immediate effects that are used right away, others provide a permanent effect for the entire round, and some give an action that can be used once per round.
After the items are chosen, players select creature cards in the usual way. When items are used, the victory limit for the game increases to 80 points instead of 60, although the game always ends after ten rounds regardless of the score.
