Description

The chapters of this book highlight some of the gifts that God has given us. They are drawn from the spiritual heritage received by Metropolitan Heroeos through the richness of Orthodox theology and the life of the Church, from his parents, spiritual fathers, and from saints old and new.

These gifts are offered to readers as presents, to show that the theology of the gift resolves all the problems we face in our lives. With the understanding that everything is a gift from God, we realize that in turn we must offer ourselves as a gift to God and others. The gifts express love and the Cross.

Instead of identifying with the gifts and becoming attached to them, we must remember God, who is the greatest gift and the greatest benefactor in our lives. God's gifts are not an end in themselves. They should not be considered in isolation but within the perspective of Orthodox theology, so that we can see how God works through them for our salvation.
