Description

The Avia S-199 is a Czechoslovak fighter jet built immediately after World War II. The production utilized components left by the German occupiers in Czechoslovakia, as well as the general design of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-14 aircraft. The Avia S-199 proved to be difficult to pilot and not particularly maneuverable.

The aircraft's propulsion unit was the Junkers Jumo 211F engine. A total of 575 Avia S-199 aircraft were built, 25 of which went to the IAF and fought in the Israeli War of Independence in 1948.
