Hayman drums were introduced in the late 1960s by an English manufacturer. The idea was to create a series of drums that would share in the success of the big American companies of the time. The company started with the name George Hayman and later shortened it to Hayman.

The secret of the sound of Hayman drums lay in the inner layer. It was called Vibrasonic, but in reality, it was a thick, sprayed layer based on common white polyurethane. Its function was to enhance the drum surface, allowing the sound to resonate inside and produce more "thump."
