The "Poor Folks" is Dostoevsky's first novel. Many argue that it is also his best work written between 1840-1850.
For this work, the great critic Belinsky dedicated his most flattering comments, and he was the first to speak admiringly about Dostoevsky's great literary talent because of this very work, which he described as "one of the earliest attempts at writing a social novel in Russia".
The reader will find that this work of Dostoevsky deserves all praise because it is deeply human, because its frameworks still perfectly apply even today to almost all relationships between the economically powerful and the economically weak, between the rich and the poor.
