Description

Description

The Keychron K3 Max is an advanced wireless mechanical keyboard with a 75% layout and Low-Profile design. It offers triple connectivity (2.4 GHz / Bluetooth 5.1 / USB-C), a 1000 Hz polling rate, and full programmability via QMK/VIA. It features Hot-Swappable switches and advanced insulation with IXPE and latex foam.

Hybrid Connectivity & Polling Rate

The K3 Max incorporates an advanced triple connection system for maximum flexibility. The wireless operation at 2.4 GHz ensures extremely low latency with a polling rate of 1000 Hz, making it ideal for competitive gaming. Alternatively, the Bluetooth 5.1 protocol allows simultaneous pairing with up to 3 devices and instant switching between them for multitasking. There is also the option of a wired connection via a USB Type-C port, which provides stability and charging, ensuring uninterrupted operation in demanding work environments.

QMK & VIA Architecture

The device is fully supported by the open-source QMK firmware, offering unlimited customization possibilities. Through the VIA platform or Keychron Launcher, the user can perform key remapping, create complex macros, and set shortcuts at the firmware level. The settings are stored in the microcontroller's memory, allowing the use of custom layouts on any operating system (macOS, Windows, Linux) without the need to install additional software on the host system.

Low-Profile Design & Hot-Swap

With an aluminum chassis and an ultra-slim profile, the keyboard features Gateron Low-Profile MX 2.0 switches, which are 31% thinner than standard switches. The PCB board is equipped with Hot-Swappable sockets, allowing you to remove and replace mechanical switches without soldering. This technical specification enables the user to customize the tactile feel (Linear, Tactile, Clicky) in just a few seconds, using compatible Gateron or Keychron low-profile mechanical switches.

Sound Dampening & Stabilizers

For optimizing the acoustic signature, the K3 Max uses a multi-layered internal structure. Advanced IXPE acoustic foam has been added between the PCB and the switches, as well as latex foam at the bottom of the chassis. These materials absorb vibrations and eliminate echo, offering a solid and silent typing experience. At the same time, the redesigned stabilizers on the large keys (Space, Enter, Shift) minimize wobble and ensure uniform operation.

RGB Lighting & Ergonomics

The RGB backlighting system offers over 22 different lighting patterns, with full adjustment of hue, saturation, brightness, and effect speed. Ergonomically, the frame features adjustable feet that allow the keyboard to tilt at 3 different angles, reducing wrist strain during extended use. The key layout is compatible with both macOS and Windows, including a physical system switch and the corresponding keycaps in the package.

This review is about the switches: Gateron Low Profile Red

I really don't know why for so many years I was paying for Logitech. I just replaced the Logitech Mechanical MX Keys Tactile with this little beauty in every respect. I really like the feel of the switches it has.

Good. The only drawback is that although it is illuminated, the light does not pass through the keys, so the letters are not lit and you need to get other keys (shine through) at a cost of 30-50 euros. Otherwise, it has a sturdy build, nice sound, excellent switching between 3 bluetooth devices (with Fn+1,2,3), full connectivity with PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Sony Google TV. In games it's a pleasure (I tested it without tactile switches) but also for office work (Canva, Illustrator, Davinci Resolve, Blender) it works very well.

This is the third one I have bought, although the previous ones were different models but similar from the same company. I like their size and build quality. I wish the battery would last longer. It is beautiful and I often change the switches (brown, red). It helps a lot with fast typing. It connects nicely via Bluetooth. It works perfectly on Mac. Its durability is about 3 years!

In less than a year the keyboards broke down (you had to press a button 3 times for it to work) also the battery is mediocre as is the RGB light. THE KEYBOARD IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY AT ALL.

Very good construction, just as I expected. They have made changes to its operation, which is better (in my opinion) than the Keychron K2 I had before.

On Mac, I have noticed the following problem, it adds an extra space when I press the spacebar but not always, it's a bit of a strange issue. It doesn't happen with other keyboards.

As for the seller, very fast and the product was at a good price.
