In his book The Geopolitics of Emotions, Dominique Moïsi strikingly demonstrates that today the world is more likely to be shaped by a "clash of emotions." Moïsi argues that both Europe and the United States are dominated by the fear of the "other" and the loss of their national identity and purpose.
