The Dahua ARD2231-W2(868) wireless motion sensor combines PIR infrared and microwave detection, with a 24 GHz digital sensor that detects motion using the Doppler effect. It is designed for indoor use and ignores small animals weighing up to 18 kg and standing up to 50 cm tall. PIR and microwave sensitivity can be adjusted across 3 levels, while the PIR sensor has a range of 12 m and a 90° detection angle.

Wireless communication operates in the 868–868.6 MHz band and has a range of up to 1,600 m in open areas. The sensor features two-way temperature compensation and communication, frequency hopping for interference protection, and AES-128 data encryption. It also includes a test mode, LED indicator, ON/OFF button, low-battery alarm, tamper protection, and cloud software updates.
