Purchase May 2026 at €464. Replaced a 7700x on an Asus x670-p motherboard. Before installation, I did a BIOS update to avoid compatibility issues. Noctua 15 single cooler. Worked immediately without problems. I couldn't find a program that maxes out the processor. Most programs still work with single thread and honestly this processor has some of the highest single thread performance for AMD. It is slightly faster compared to the 7700x, about 10% faster in practical use.

The processor is very good but expensive... In a flight simulator it works perfectly with almost everything on max and with temperatures steadily at 55 - 60 and some occasional spikes at 75... As for overclocking, I just enabled the EXPO profile and it easily goes up to 5.5 GHz without any effort.. The only problem is its price...

After almost 2 years of use, my opinion is that as long as it is combined with the appropriate motherboard and memory with the lowest possible latency, it truly performs at its best.
Excellent temperatures for 16 cores, proper resource management, especially after the major Windows 11 24H2 update. With the fixes made by Microsoft for the task scheduler, Ryzen's behavior now really shows its "teeth".
I use it fully for work and production of large files with data and formulas from EXCEL, POWER BI, SQL DATABASES.
In my free time for video and image editing and of course for gaming.

The last custom pc processors I had before going to laptops was 3770k and Xeon 2678v3 in my server
So.. what can I say. Ryzen 9 9950x - this is both of these processors combined together and with bigger number of cpu cores.
It can boost to 5.7 and work with 4.1 GHz for all cores on a long distance.
With it I created a super compact(less than 4 litres case) and super performance homelab.
    It’s just great.
Though now I would buy something more power efficient like Ryzen 9955hx. Or maybe I could wait for Ryzen ai max+ 395 with 128gb 8000 mhz ram on soc. Maybe I will replace my station with Gmktec Evo-x2 in the future)
