The plastic spikes are of moderate intensity and allow you to lie down for as long as you want without feeling discomfort. After intensive use for two weeks, the pillow completely changed shape and does not return. If it had good quality in the inner filling-sponge-pad I would recommend it. If you want it for frequent use, like me, it is not of good quality.
