I chose it after doing some market research in order to find out:
1) Which Greek shoe companies exist.
2) Which of them have production (and not just design) in Greece.
LET'S NOT confuse them with the Antonio Donati brand, for which I at least found no information about where they are manufactured.
Now, the build quality seems very good to me, but keep in mind that I consider myself quite ignorant about shoes. However, that was also the impression of someone I know who has worked in a shoe manufacturing workshop.
The wearing feel: amazing. I don't see what more I would want from a shoe.
Durability over time: I have no idea, it's a recent purchase. We'll see.
What impressed me: the insole is removable. I mean, it has no glue at all. It doesn't seem like a manufacturing defect but a choice. An interesting choice, because in the market (and we're not talking about specialty stores but about super markets) there are many interesting replacement insoles which are thick enough that they cannot be used as an extra protective layer over the shoe's insole. In some of them it is even explicitly stated that you must remove your shoe's default insole before installing them, something I never dared to do with glued insoles (as I said, I'm ignorant about shoes). With this shoe, you can change whatever insoles you want, as often as you want, without much intervention, which I imagine extends its lifespan. If on the other hand you want to put on top of the factory insole those usual thin cheap (and often scented) insoles that you also find in super markets, that will obviously be possible as with all shoes, but with one difference: these insoles peel off over time, and the fragments stick to the underlying factory insole. They can be removed, but not so easily in the areas near the toe. In the case of this shoe, however, it will likely be easier to remove them with a little rubbing on the factory insole since that one is removable too.
