In Robo Rally: Transformers, players have the option to choose from six Transformer robots, each with its own upgrades that offer unique advantages and identities. Players can transform from robot to Alt mode (or vehicle) to better navigate the many roads, buildings, and obstacles that make up each race. The game features four new double-sided game boards, depicting the urban and desert landscape of Velocitron.
