Monster Jam Showdown offers arcade-style off-road racing with official Monster Jam trucks and tracks across three different environments: Death Valley, the forests of Colorado and the icy landscapes of Alaska. Weather conditions include sandstorms, heavy rain and blizzards. The game features racing and freestyle modes, with jumps, flips and stunts.

The nonlinear career mode leads to the Showdown Tour competition, while the game supports online multiplayer and split-screen play. It includes 40 trucks in the base game and 66 in total, with the rest available through free or paid DLC. Most of the more than 140 truck liveries can be unlocked in-game.
