Description
Control of freedom in expression
Thanks to the excellent imaging capability and high-speed performance in a compact body, the a7 III provides you with the power, precision, and flexibility to capture unique moments in your life the way you want.
Rendering scenes with realistic details
The new back-illuminated image sensor and advanced image processing system meet various shooting needs with high-quality imaging capabilities you would expect only from a full-frame camera.
New sensor, advanced image processor
The latest technology achieves thrilling processing speed
The new version of the 24.2-megapixel5 Exmor R™ CMOS sensor features a back-illuminated structure, combined with the latest BIONZ X™ image processing system and front-end LSI, and this combination achieves twice the data readout speed and 1.8 times higher data processing capability.
Noise reduction in high-resolution images
Up to 1.5-stop improvement in image quality. The standard ISO range has been extended to ISO 100-51200 (expandable to ISO 50-2048007 for still images), while enhanced detail reproduction and noise reduction maintain details without noise. Thanks to performance in mid-to-high sensitivity, you can shoot with high ISO without noise and image degradation.
Smooth gradation from shadow to light
Dynamic range of up to approximately 15 stops. The dynamic range of up to approximately 15 stops at low sensitivity settings is achieved by the customized CMOS sensor and image processor, providing smooth gradations from shadow to light, for greater freedom and creativity.
Faithful color reproduction
More faithful color reproduction straight from the camera. Color reproduction is significantly improved, with more natural colors for subjects, closer to their real colors. As a result, skin tones in portraits, blue skies in landscapes, and vivid hues in still images look much more realistic.
More stable shots with 5-axis stabilization
The latest high-precision stabilization uses a unit and gyroscopic sensors and algorithms for a 5.0-step shutter speed advantage, compensating for five types of shake with a wide range of lenses and excellent performance.
14-bit RAW10 output for rich gradations
For smoother, more natural gradation, the BIONZ X image processor and front-end LSI process image signals in 16-bit.
It also allows RAW10 14-bit data output, even in silent or continuous shooting mode.
4D FOCUS — The evolution in AF performance
AF performance is improved through the use of the same innovations as in the a9 and their optimal application, and since the a7 III will capture moving subjects that move unexpectedly, such as dancers, boxers, and wildlife in action, they are not easily missed.
Focus control from the touch screen
Thanks to the a7 III's touch focus and touchpad functions, you can easily drag the focus frame with your finger while using the viewfinder.
Automatic focus in focus magnification mode
Use AF for still images when the focus area is magnified in a viewfinder/screen and maximize the display after AF. Ideal for focusing on a small area and in shots requiring high precision.
More flexible AF settings everywhere
AF tracking sensitivity for still images can be adjusted in five steps. AF areas/points change between horizontal and vertical orientation. Settings can be assigned to custom buttons.
Fast continuous shooting to capture moments
The A7 III can shoot continuous bursts at up to 10 fps with AF/AE2 tracking and continuous bursts at 8 fps in live-view mode. The camera also supports silent shooting at up to 10 fps with AF/AE tracking at maximum resolution.
Image resolution without compromise
Full pixel readout without binning for high-resolution 4K movies. Full pixel readout without binning in full-frame 35 mm mode condenses 2.4 times the data for 4K movies (QFHD: 3840 x 2160), without moiré and jagged edges. Choose full-frame or Super 35 mm as needed. Additionally, 4K recording uses the XAVC S format at bit rates up to 100.
Reliable capabilities and functions in a small body
The functionality of the a7 III is enhanced through quick control during shooting, stunningly clear views through the Tru-Finder, versatile connectivity, extended shooting duration from various power sources, as well as great durability and resistance to moisture and dust.
Longer battery life for professional-length shoots
The a7 III takes an NP-FZ100 battery, with approximately 2.2 times the capacity of an NP-FW50, offering the ability to shoot about 710 photos on a full charge. The optional BC-QZ1 battery charger charges faster compared to USB.
