To prepare coffee, fill the lower chamber with boiling water without covering the safety valve. Place ground coffee in the filter without tamping it, then put the coffee maker on the stovetop. Once steam starts escaping through the opening in the lower chamber, remove it from the heat. Do not wash it in the dishwasher or use harsh chemical cleaners.
