The ConBee III functions as a USB gateway and Zigbee coordinator, allowing computers and Raspberry Pi devices to communicate with Zigbee devices in automation systems. Local operation does not require a cloud connection or registration with a manufacturer’s service, and data remains on the local network. The built-in signal amplifier provides a range of up to 30 m indoors and up to 200 m in open areas.

The gateway is based on the SiLabs EFR32MG21 chip and connects via a USB port. It is compatible with Zigbee devices from various manufacturers and with systems such as Raspberry Pi devices, computers, and laptops. The Phoscon app can be used to configure and control devices, automations, and rules, while the backup function supports transferring a Zigbee installation to a new system. It has a physical button for accessing service functions.
