Three works by the third great tragic poet of ancient Greece. Euripides, one of the greatest poets of antiquity, is appreciated in every era for the pathological, terrifying, and intellectual character of his dramatic works. The new edition of the Loeb Classical Library comprises six volumes. Volume I of the edition includes the performances: Cyclops, the only complete satyric drama that has survived from antiquity; Alcestis, the story of a woman who agrees, in order to save her husband's life, to die in his place; and Medea, a tragedy of revenge in which Medea kills her own children to punish their father.
