The Adventurous history by Quintus Curtius is an important work that records the history of Alexander the Great. Curtius, a rhetorician of the 1st century AD, wrote the history of Alexander in ten books for Latin readers, of which all but the first two and some parts of books 5, 6, and 10 have survived. Relying mainly on Cleitarchus, Curtius captures Alexander's adventures through vivid and impressive narration.

Curtius is not strictly a critical historian. His aim is to entertain and highlight Alexander's personality, creating impressive scenes and omitting significant historical details, without worrying about chronology. He admits that "I copied more than I believe." Three characteristics of his narrative include the recounting of shocking experiences, the development of a hero's character, and the tendency to moralize.

Curtius's history is one of the five extant works that provide us with information about the career of Alexander the Great. The Loeb Library edition of Quintus Curtius is published in two volumes.
