Two transgender young people end up in a small, isolated town, where they must escape from the locals who intend to sacrifice one of them to an ancient monster that feeds exclusively on girls. Erin and Max are trying to reach California. Max is eager to finally undergo his transition, while Erin is searching for answers as to why they are on this journey, after her sudden breakup two years earlier. As they find themselves trapped and eventually separated in the terrifying forests of Central America, they realize that their challenges are much greater. First, there is the creature that, according to legend, feeds on girls, hunting them through the shadows. And then there are the locals, who are seeking a female sacrifice. If they hope to survive until sunrise, Erin and Max must unite and stop running: from their attackers, from each other, and ultimately from themselves.
