In the case of network video recorders (NVR), video data processing is done in the connected cameras, which are then transferred to the recorder for remote viewing and storage. This means that NVR systems are compatible with IP network cameras, which offer higher resolution video than analog cameras, and can be connected to the central unit via ethernet cable or wirelessly, when both the recorder and the cameras have Wi-Fi connectivity.
