The first complete historical work of early Christianity. Eusebius of Caesarea (c. 260–340 AD), born in Palestine, was a disciple of the presbyter Pamphilus, whom he faithfully supported during the persecution period of Diocletian. He himself was imprisoned in Egypt but became Bishop of Caesarea around 314. At the Ecumenical Council of Nicaea in 325, he sat next to the emperor, led a faction of the moderates, and drafted the first version of the famous doctrine.

Among Eusebius's many teachings, we have the "Martyrs of Palestine" and the "Life of Constantine"; several apologetic and polemic works; parts of his commentaries on the Psalms and Isaiah; as well as the "Chronicle," known mainly from the Armenian and Syriac editions of the original Greek text. However, Eusebius's main fame lies in the "History of the Christian Church" in ten books, published in 324–325, the most important ecclesiastical history of ancient times, a great treasure of knowledge for the early Church.
