It was a warm sunny afternoon. I leaned my back against the shade of a willow tree and waited to see which animals would be attracted to the raft. It didn’t take long before an impressive blue heron landed, with a fish in its long beak. I quickly grabbed a pencil and began to draw. The bird had its lunch just a few steps away from me, but I felt invisible. In the end, it adjusted its wings, looked back at the river, and flew away. That evening, I showed my drawing to my grandmother. Not bad. Not bad at all, she said, and hung it on the wall.
