The bulb is sold loose, per piece. Grow crocuses in a sunny or partially shaded environment with well-drained soils. Crocuses, like most sun-loving plants, bloom in spring, allowing them to be planted even under deciduous trees. Avoid planting crocuses under evergreen trees, as their dense shade deprives crocuses of the necessary spring sunlight.

Bulbs of spring-blooming crocuses are planted in autumn. The colder the climate, the earlier they should be planted. Bulbs of autumn-blooming crocuses are planted in spring. Planting requires a depth of 5 centimeters and a distance of 5-8 centimeters between bulbs, with the pointed end of the bulbs facing upwards.

Applying fertilizer at the time of planting is not necessary, however, a little organic compost can be beneficial. Crocus bulbs "sibling," and it is possible to separate and thin them to propagate your plants, thereby preventing overcrowding and degeneration. If crocuses stop blooming normally after one or two years, it is preferable to separate them to boost their flowering.

The best time to separate the bulbs is after flowering, when the foliage has yellowed and completely dried. It is noted that the foliage remains lively for some time after flowering, allowing the plant to continue feeding. Leaf removal is permitted only when they have completely yellowed. In the case of growing crocuses in flower beds, it is easy to allow them to fade naturally. If planted among grass, it may be difficult to locate them as their leaves yellow about 6 weeks after flowering.
