I got this specific lens because I wanted to have a wide view on a Canon body with an APS-C sensor without spending a fortune, trusting not only the reviews here but also what is mentioned in countless presentations on YouTube.

The primary purpose was clearly achieved and everything I read and saw corresponds to reality.

In terms of construction, it is a sturdy build, with a metal mount, so small that it fits in the pocket of my jeans, which means I believe it can be permanently in the bag with the equipment.

Due to the sensor, the 24mm is equivalent to 36mm, which means that we roughly capture what we see with the human eye.

It is sharp even at f/2.8, an aperture that is useful in low light conditions.

The focusing speed did not impress me, but I did not expect anything better and in no way do I consider it a deterrent factor for its purchase. Not to mention that I believe it should definitely be in your collection.

Together with the 50/1.8 (nifty fifty), it is perfect for replacing the kit lens.

Very good lens, for its price. Lightweight, silent in focus, very easy to use in video if you don't have an external microphone. In other words, if the surrounding noise is sufficient (parties, churches, busy streets), the sound from the focus will not be recorded. Especially if you use it with custom firmware (Magic Lantern), the follow focus works very smoothly and almost silently. Some mention in their comments that they have difficulty with manual focus. Let me explain that the focus ring is electronic and therefore continuous, but the most important thing is that the ring operates in variable steps, depending on how fast we turn it. So if someone is used to working only with mechanical focus rings, when they turn it quickly, they will immediately lose the desired focus point and will have to turn it again to find it. However, if we rotate the ring very slowly, the movement is transferred proportionally and one can really focus exactly where they want with great precision. When they want to dramatically change the focus point, they turn it a little faster and the lens responds immediately. So the focus ring of the lens is not bad. It's not a bug, it's a feature! The last important feature of the lens is again related to the focus ring, which, because it is electronic, does not have contact with the movable part of the lens, and this is extremely useful in specific shootings. For example, if someone is doing a timelapse (thus tripod and manual focus) and using a variable ND filter that they want to adjust during the shots, with another lens they risk losing focus while turning the filter, while with this lens they have absolutely no risk. The same applies to any filter one wants to add between shots. Overall, good image quality, satisfactory sharpness, and acceptable colors. Vignetting is easily removed with acceptable results from the Lightroom preset for this lens. Ideal for both street photography and more discreet presence. For the cameras it is intended for, it is a must-have lens in my opinion, given that it is not expensive.

Very good lens. I have experience with 100% manual lenses and I am quite satisfied with its performance. The automatic lens I had was the 18-55 AF-IS and it broke after 8 years. I preferred a prime lens because it is simpler and better in terms of photo quality. This lens is not intended for people who are not familiar enough with the subject. Continuing from this, I have taken about 80 photos with this lens so far and my conclusions are as follows:
Very good for daytime photos. In very low light conditions and at night, it only performs perfectly with a tripod, unless you use a set of lighting fixtures. Useful for close-up photos and excellent for macro photography. If you handle the AF points well and shoot in manual mode, the results are exceptional. I recommend it as a second lens. Additionally, if you buy the lens, get a transparent 52mm filter (all market filters fit). Don't worry that it doesn't have IS (image stabilization), it is not necessary in my opinion. If you don't have a steady hand, you won't be able to take clear photos in low light with any lens without a tripod. However, you can't always carry a tripod with you. Finally, I mention that I use the CANON 500D, which, although quite old, has never bothered me because it has proven to be reliable and of good quality for amateurs.
After several months of use, I do not recommend it to photographers with little experience.
If you don't play with the camera's manual settings, which I only use, don't get it.
If you just want to take photos without adjusting the camera, get the 18-55 EFS IS.
Continuing from the previous post, after about 400 photos, I still do not recommend it to amateurs because they will hate it without knowing how to use it.
