The Dark Horse Archives series presents the first four issues of this influential Golden Age series in a beautiful hardcover format, starting a comprehensive program that will collect the first ten years of this classic title!
In 1947, artist Jesse Marsh left Walt Disney Studios, where he had worked on projects such as Pinocchio, Fantasia, and various animated shorts, to work full-time for Western Publishing. Tarzan was one of his first assignments, with the iconic figure appearing for the first time in Dell Four-Color Comics #134. Tarzan #2 would begin Marsh's long collaboration with writer Gaylord DuBois. Their outstanding work garnered admiration and respect from readers and peers, with Russ Manning among them, and Marsh's art inspired future comic creators such as Richard Corben and Los Bros. Hernandez!
