Projection Technology

Projection technology is the way in which the projector's lamp light is converted into an image to be projected through the lens onto a surface. This particular one is DLP (DMD) technology and its lamp is LED type, which has a longer lifespan but lower brightness than simple lamps, with good color performance.

This technology takes its name from the initials of the words Digital Light Processing, it is the most widespread projection technology and there are projectors with one or three DLP chips. The image is created when the projector's lamp light passes through a rotating color wheel and is reflected by a chip that has hundreds of thousands of tiny mirrors, each corresponding to a pixel. This chip is called DMD (Digital Micromirror Device). They are suitable for spaces with ample lighting, such as school classrooms or conference rooms, and have good color performance.

Contrast Ratio

Brightness and contrast, or otherwise the contrast ratio, are two very important features that are taken into account, in combination with the projection distance and the maximum diagonal you want to achieve, for the selection of a projector. This particular one has a brightness of 200 Lumens and a contrast ratio of 10000:1.

Contrast indicates the difference between the darkest and the brightest part of an image and is an indicator of image quality. An image projected by a projector with a low contrast ratio appears faded and flat. In contrast, with a high contrast ratio, it appears more realistic and with greater "depth".

Brightness indicates how much light the projector can deliver on a specific surface size. The general rule suggests that brighter projectors should be preferred in spaces with plenty of light or several light sources, while "darker" ones should be preferred in dark spaces.

Connectivity

It is equipped with Wi-Fi so you can connect wirelessly to your local network and watch an online program or download software updates. The wireless Bluetooth connection allows you to connect devices that have the same technology, such as your mobile phone.

  • The projector is generally good, but we are paying too much for it; you can find it on other foreign sites for €40. For light daily use, it is OK, but if you use it daily for more than 3 hours, it starts to develop some small issues. For example, YouTube or another app may stop responding and you have to restart and start over, or sometimes while you are watching something, it might suddenly throw you back to the home screen. Generally, there are a few small problems after quite a bit of use. If I bought it for €40, I think it would be a very good investment for a projector that only has minor issues. Since I bought it for €80, I wouldn't buy it again if it broke

    For its price, simply unrivaled.
Excellent projector, but exclusively for home use and in a space with over 80% darkness.
In other words, to enjoy the colors and picture of the projector at 100%, you need to use it in complete darkness. Even if you have a very small lamp on in the room, the brightness and clarity of the image is immediately significantly altered, which is of course logical if you consider that we are talking about a €100 projector.
Therefore, for professional use (e.g., in a café for broadcasting matches) where almost complete darkness is not possible, it is not suitable at all.
    Its negative points are:
    1. The sound. Weak speaker and 'muffled' sound. However, this issue is easily solved with an external speaker (bluetooth or wired—it has a 3.5mm output for headphones).
    2. The noise. The fan that cools it is quite noisy. A slightly annoying, constant hum...

update 22-10-2025: (1) cosmotetv: For some time now, it does not work as a local app on the projector's android, nor can you cast its content via chromecast device from a mobile (either it throws you out or the picture freezes and only sound remains. I assume that with the latest update they made to the cosmote app, for some reason they significantly restricted the capabilities regarding which devices you can watch from and how), nor via tvbox. At least from the tvbox I use (meccol km7 plus). I don't know about those officially supported by cosmote..
Therefore, cosmote tv through this projector, either directly or via tvbox or chromecast device, is not possible. If you want it for watching matches on a large screen, forget it....
    (2) netflix: Direct viewing via the installed app on the projector's android is no longer supported (while it was supported until 6-8-2025), but it works fine without problems via cast or with a connected tvbox.
For the reasons described in the update, I removed one star from the rating.
