The adolescent perception of the world and my place within it is full of holes. Even the most absolute certainties of yesterday, precious patches, rarely remain intact until tomorrow… However, human existence is governed by realities but is based on certainties about what is true, good, desirable, lovable, achievable – and their opposites. In adolescence, these vital certainties are not givens but questions to be answered. With the additional peculiarity that the adolescent's world is not founded on abstract concepts but on stories, narratives, great fantasies – either visible or hidden. And with the further particularity that every answer holds the status of a temporarily absolute truth: from the music we listen to, to the clothes we wear, and the gadgets we chase… which are often discarded within at most three months.
