The figure of Shanks, also known as Red-Haired, is the leader of the Red Pirates and one of the Four Emperors who dominate the New World.
Shanks began his pirate career by joining the ship of the legendary Roger Pirates from a young age, as an apprentice alongside Buggy, before forming his own crew.
Twelve years ago, while active in the East Sea, he inspired the young villager Monkey D. Luffy to start his own pirate adventure, accidentally giving him the Gomu Gomu no Mi fruit and sacrificing his left arm to save Luffy from the Sea King.
