Lactase is an essential digestive enzyme produced in the small intestine that breaks down lactose, the main carbohydrate in milk. In cases of decreased or absent lactase production by the small intestine, undigested lactose passes into the large intestine where it is fermented, resulting in gas production and diarrhea.
Lactose intolerance is not life-threatening, but it does cause disruptions in quality of life; moreover, the avoidance of dairy products can lead to dietary restrictions. Lamberts® Lactase Enzyme 9000 FCC is one of the highest potency lactase supplements worldwide, providing per tablet lactase equivalent to 9000 FCC (units of the Food Chemical Codex).
The potency of enzymatic activity is measured in units of the Food Chemical Codex (FCC), as the FCC is the globally recognized standard for determining the activity of plant enzymes. This product can be used over a long period, helping to improve lactose digestion in individuals who have difficulty digesting it.
Like all Lamberts® products, it is manufactured in the United Kingdom according to strict Pharmaceutical GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
