"Not bad" review from a graphic designer/illustrator. The previous sleeve I bought from a well-known online Chinese store for €2, a simple silicone design in 2 pieces. Unfortunately, within two months the silicone started to slip and I had to keep pushing the Apple Pencil back in all the time. So I ended up here with the “Elago X Monami”, in black color and a price of ~€20.
Positives of the Elago X Monami:
-No issues at all with the Apple Pencil’s functions. I have a Spigen iPad case and it magnetizes/charges normally.
-The Apple Pencil fits in relatively easily up to 90% of the sleeve.
-It doesn’t come off at all, unless you want it to. I hope this one doesn’t develop the same problem and start slipping while I’m drawing.
-The sleeve is almost one piece and covers about 95% of the Apple Pencil, without the “cap.”
-I also like the detail of the Monami “mechanism,” it also works as a small fidget toy.
Negatives:
-Although they made a good effort to hide the “seam” where the two silicone parts join, sometimes you can feel it and it’s annoying to the touch.
-I would prefer the transition at the rounded part to be smoother.
-The notch for the touch is annoying and creates a gap between your finger and the pen, resulting in the double tap working better on the back side, which is plain silicone, rather than on the notch that’s supposed to be for this purpose.
