Purchased for the Ryzen 7 9800x3D and because it has 4 NVMe slots, what I didn't know is that ONLY the (logical) one above the GPU gen 5.0 works at full speed and then the 3rd one, which is gen 4.0, without cutting lanes from the GPU! If the NVMe slots below the GPU are used and the last one, then the GPU drops to x8 mode. They stand out because they say Gen 5.0, so we avoid these if we want the GPU x16. For me, this was a below-the-belt hit and a stab in the heart. Fortunately, I had a pci-e to m.2 adaptor and put my 3rd NVMe there. And here comes the issue with the reviews that users make. I read the top one that said about 4 NVMe and not 3, which was something I wanted, but it does NOT mention the most important thing, that only 2 out of the 4 work simultaneously with the GPU at x16. Other manufacturers route the remaining m.2 through the chipset, but Gigabyte does not. For me, this is a major deal breaker, but I didn't return it since it took a month of waiting for the CPU to be delivered, during which I just had the motherboard and RAM in their boxes. If what I’m writing isn’t a deal breaker for you, which is reasonable since we don’t all have the same needs or many NVMe, it seems to be a sturdy construction and is tool-less, meaning the covers and NVMe come out without a screwdriver and it has a very convenient button to release the GPU. I don’t have another AM5 motherboard to compare what differences it may have with my CPU, but so far, from the benchmarks I’ve seen from other users, it seems to perform just as well, and any differences I’ve seen, either up or down, are within the margins of statistical errors. For me, if I had known this about the m.2, I would have paid any difference for another company since I intended to install 4 NVMe, and although I have adaptors, that’s not a solution, and it’s not that it can’t be done. Other manufacturers implement it just fine.

Αν γίνει χρήση των NVMe υποδοχών κάτω από την GPU και η τελευταία τότε η GPU πέφτει σε x8 mode. Ξεχωρίζουν γιατί λένε Gen 5.0, αυτές λοιπόν τις αποφεύγουμε αν θέλουμε την GPU x16.
Για μένα αυτό ήταν χτύπημα κάτω από την μέση και μαχαιριά στην καρδιά. Ευτυχώς είχα έναν pci-e to m.2 adaptor και έβαλα εκεί τον 3ο NVMe που είχα.
Και εδώ κολλάει και τα review που κάνουν οι χρήστες. Διάβασα το top που έλεγε για 4 NVMe και όχι 3 που ήταν κάτι που ήθελα αλλά ΔΕΝ αναφέρει το βασικότερο, ότι μόνο τα 2 από τα 4 παίζουν παράλληλα με την GPU σε x16.
Άλλοι κατασκευαστές βάζουν τις υπόλοιπες m.2 να πάνε μέσω chipset, η gigabyte όχι. Για μένα αυτό είναι μεγάλο deal breaker αλλά δεν την πήγα για επιστροφή καθώς μέχρι να παραδοθεί η CPU πέρασε μήνας αναμονής που απλά είχα μητρική και ram στα κουτιά τους.
Αν αυτό που γράφω δεν είναι deal breaker για εσάς, λογικό μιας που δεν έχουμε όλοι τις ίδιες ανάγκες ή πολλούς NVMe, δείχνει να είναι μια στιβαρή κατασκευή και είναι tool-less δλδ τα καπάκια και οι NVMe βγαίνουν χωρίς κατσαβίδι και έχει ένα πολύ βολικό κουμπί για να απασφαλίζει την GPU.
Δεν έχω άλλη ΑΜ5 μητρική για να κάνω σύγκριση τι διαφορές μπορεί να έχει με την CPU μου αλλά ως τώρα ότι benchmarks έχω δει από άλλους χρήστες, δείχνει να πάει το ίδιο καλά και όποιες διαφορές έχω δει είτε προς τα πάνω είτε προς τα κάτω είναι στα πλαίσια των στατιστικών λαθών.
Για εμένα αν το ήξερα αυτό με τους m.2, θα έδινα την όποια διαφορά για κάποια άλλη εταιρία καθώς είχα σκοπό να βάλω 4 nvme, αν και έχω adaptors δεν είναι αυτό λύση και δεν είναι ότι δεν μπορεί να γίνει. Μια χαρά το εφαρμόζουν άλλοι κατασκευαστές.
