I hadn't tried the XB10000 (older model), but this one is a "beast." It's not far from the truth to say that the strength needed to bring just its sinker to shore is almost the same as what's needed to bring in a 1.5kg sea bass... It doesn't flinch. I didn't choose the XB10000 because it was a much older model and would probably be replaced. Of course, the XC14000 has the disadvantage that it needs 350m of 0.40mm line (as if I were fishing in the Atlantic)... In about 6 months I'll "reverse" the line and the initial fill will last at least a year. I'd describe its weight as normal for serious surfcasting. As for its quality, it shows in every detail. It's no coincidence that the only "reels" I have that survive and work properly after 7-10 years of use are only the Shimanos...
update 200725: A 3+ kg sea bass bent the tip of the rod (Colmic 250 action) from 4.30m to 1.80m for over 10'' and the reel didn't make a sound. Brakes fully tightened, it didn't give any line (0.40)... Awesome!

Δεν επέλεξα το ΧΒ10000 γιατί ήταν πολύ παλιότερο μοντέλο και μάλλον θα αντικατασταθεί. Φυσικά το XC14000 έχει το μειονέκτημα ότι χρειάζεται 350μ πετονιά 0,40mm (ούτε στον Ατλαντικό να ψάρευα)... Σε κανένα 6μηνο θα "γυρίσω" τη πετονιά το "μπρος-πίσω" και 1 χρόνο τουλάχιστον θα τη βγάλει το αρχικό γέμισμα. Το βάρος του θα το χαρακτήριζα νορμάλ για σοβαρό surfcasting. Όσο για τη ποιότητά του, φαίνεται σε κάθε λεπτομέρεια. Δεν είναι τυχαίο που τα μόνα "μηχανάκια" μου που επιζούν και δουλεύουν σωστά από αγορές 7-10 χρόνων είναι μόνο τα Shimano...

In about 6 months I'll "reverse" the line and the initial fill will last at least a year. I'd describe its weight as normal for serious surfcasting. As for its quality, it shows in every detail. It's no coincidence that the only "reels" I have that survive and work properly after 7-10 years of use are only the Shimanos...
update 200725: A 3+ kg sea bass bent the tip of the rod (Colmic 250 action) from 4.30m to 1.80m for over 10'' and the reel didn't make a sound. Brakes fully tightened, it didn't give any line (0.40)... Awesome!
Δεν είχα δοκιμάσει το XB10000 (παλιότερο μοντέλο), πάντως αυτό είναι "θηρίο". Δεν απέχει πολύ από τη πραγματικότητα αν πω ότι η δύναμη που χρειάζεται για να φέρεις στην ακτή μόνο το βαρίδιό του, σχεδόν η ίδια χρειάζεται για να φέρεις λαυράκι 1,5κ... Δε καταλαβαίνει τίποτα. Δεν επέλεξα το ΧΒ10000 γιατί ήταν πολύ παλιότερο μοντέλο και μάλλον θα αντικατασταθεί. Φυσικά το XC14000 έχει το μειονέκτημα ότι χρειάζεται 350μ πετονιά 0,40mm (ούτε στον Ατλαντικό να ψάρευα)... Σε κανένα 6μηνο θα "γυρίσω" τη πετονιά το "μπρος-πίσω" και 1 χρόνο τουλάχιστον θα τη βγάλει το αρχικό γέμισμα. Το βάρος του θα το χαρακτήριζα νορμάλ για σοβαρό surfcasting. Όσο για τη ποιότητά του, φαίνεται σε κάθε λεπτομέρεια. Δεν είναι τυχαίο που τα μόνα "μηχανάκια" μου που επιζούν και δουλεύουν σωστά από αγορές 7-10 χρόνων είναι μόνο τα Shimano...
update 200725: Λαυράκι 3+ κιλά είχε κατεβάσει τη μύτη του καλαμιού (Colmic 250 action) από τα 4.30μ στο 1.80μ για πάνω από 10'' και ο μηχανισμός δε "έβγαλε κιχ". Τέρμα κλειστά τα φρένα, δεν έδωσε καθόλου πετονιά (0.40)... Φοβερός!
