The quality of each component is important for the overall performance of an acoustic guitar. In the Laureate Series, Alvarez handpicks each piece of wood for the bridge, brace, side supports, and kerfing parts, ensuring the highest quality for both structure and appearance.
This dedication is noticeable and offers a rare level of detail in the manufacturing process. For the Laureate series, Alvarez performs additional steps, such as hand-smoothing the supports, which are cut from Sitka spruce, selected for their straight grain and fine cutting quality, enhancing overall response and vibrations.
The Laureate series uses only the finest Sitka spruce top wood. The stiffness and quality of the top allow for thinning the thickness slightly to increase response.
The back and side panels are crafted from the finest Indian rosewood. The processes required to achieve high-quality construction have led Alvarez to improve their sanding and finishing process, resulting in a flawless, deep shine with the finest lacquer finish ever achieved.
The bridges, fretboards, and headstock plates are made from the best African ebony. Ebony components affect the articulation, clarity, and separation of notes, working in harmony with other premium parts to deliver a clear and powerful sound.
This ebony quality is combined with rare blue abalone inlays, creating a luxurious yet subtle feel. The Laureate is a traditional guitar series, featuring body shapes based on guitars from the late 1800s to the 1930s.
