The main reason I got this particular one is because other USB-C chargers with multiple ports tend to cut power to devices that are connected when you connect/disconnect devices to other ports. This device does not do that, unless you connect devices that suddenly require a lot of power, e.g. a laptop charger, so the hub gets a bit confused until it figures it out. BUT if you create a custom profile through their app and set the limits in advance, e.g. the 1st and 2nd ports to deliver full power with 100W for laptops but the 3rd port not to give more than 20W for charging small devices, and not to support proprietary mobile protocols that I don't have, then the hub doesn't flinch. It goes from 5W usage to 150W and then back down again without cutting power to anything even if most ports are occupied.
A second reason is USB PPS support for experimenting with various voltages. At first, PPS was cut off at 11V, which is very common in cheap USB-C hubs, but after a firmware upgrade it supports PPS up to 20+V.
The fact that it needs its own app to tweak advanced settings (mainly firmware upgrade, to show the time correctly, and custom profiles) is a bit of a downside because who guarantees me that 5 years later Anker won't abandon the device or the app and then it breaks on some Android update? At least most settings for supplying power to things and some simple profiles are accessible from the device and the dial on the edge, without needing apps, etc.
Also, when I first installed the app a few months ago, it asked me to create an account and log in, but when I recently changed phones and reinstalled the app, it didn't ask me to log in, it let me connect to the device and change any setting I wanted. Maybe it can be used without account registration but I'm not 100% sure.
Ο κύριος λόγος που πήρα το συγκεκριμένο είναι επειδή άλλα usb-c chargers με πολλές θύρες τείνουν να κόβουν ρεύμα σε συσκευές που είναι συνδεδεμένες όταν συνδέεις/αποσυνδέεις συσκευές σε άλλες θύρες. Η συσκευή αυτή δεν το κάνει αυτό, εκτός κι αν συνδέεις συσκευές που ξαφνικά απαιτήσουν πολύ ρεύμα πχ λάπτοπ charger, οπότε το hub τα χάνει λίγο μέχρι να βγάλει άκρη. ΑΛΛΑ αν φτιάξεις custom profile μέσω του app τους και ρυθμίσεις από πριν τα όρια πχ η 1η και 2η θύρα να δίνουν πόνο με 100W για τα λάπτοπς αλλά η 3η θύρα να μην δίνει πάνω από 20W για να φορτίζω μικροσυσκευές, και να μην υποστηρίζει proprietary πρωτόκολλα κινητών που δεν έχω, τότε το hub δεν μασάει. Πάει από 5W χρήση σε 150W και μετά πάλι κάτω χωρίς να κόψει ρεύμα σε τίποτα ακόμη κι αν οι περισσότερες θύρες είναι κατειλημμένες.
Ένας δεύτερος λόγος είναι υποστήριξη USB PPS για να πειραματισμό με διάφορα voltages. Στην αρχή το pps κοβόταν μέχρι τα 11V πράγμα πολύ σύνηθες σε φτηνιάρικα usb-c hubs, αλλά μετά από ένα firmware upgrade υποστηρίζει PPS μέχρι και 20+V.
Το ότι χρειάζεται δικιά του εφαρμογή για να πειράξεις advanced ρυθμίσεις (κυρίως firmware upgrade, να δείχνει την ώρα σωστά, και custom profiles), είναι λίγο φάουλ γιατί ποιός μου εγγυάται ότι 5 χρόνια μετά η anker δεν θα παρατήσει την συσκευή ή την εφαρμογή και μετά σπάσει σε κάποιο android update? Τουλάχιστον οι περισσότερες ρυθμίσεις για να δίνεις ρεύμα σε πράγματα και μερικά απλά προφίλ είναι προσβάσιμες από την συσκευή και την ροδέλα στην άκρη, χωρίς να χρειάζεσαι εφαρμογές κλπ
Επίσης όταν πρωτοεγκατέστησα την εφαρμογή πριν από μερικούς μήνες μου ζήτησε να φτιάξω account και να κάνω login, όμως όταν άλλαξα κινητό πρόσφατα και ξαναεγκατέστησα την εφαρμογή δεν μου ζήτησε login, με άφησε να συνδεθώ στην συσκευή και να πειράξω όποια ρύθμιση ήθελα. Ίσως μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί χωρίς account registration αλλά δεν είμαι 100% σίγουρος.
