The Slay the Spire board game is a cooperative deck-building adventure with dungeon-crawling elements. Players begin with characters who have unique abilities and simple decks, which they improve by adding or removing cards. Along the way, they face strange creatures and discover powerful relics. The adventure is divided into Acts and can be paused at the end of each one.

If a player's health points reach zero, the team loses and the adventure starts over from the beginning. Victory is achieved by defeating the final Boss, which depends on the number of Acts played.
